The City of Lanterns - Hoi An

Hoi An is HOT - I mean unbearably hot but its a pleasant little town with some good restaurants. Perhaps the second best thing to do in Hoi An (the first being the ECO tour)is walk around at night. Its a pretty quiet little town where we managed to walk around late at night safely.

I wouldn't bother with getting clothes made (which is what Hoi An is famous for) but if you do - go to Ah Dong Silk - they do a seriously good job for a decent enough price and there's no mucking around. What every you do - don't get shoes made there. The women are evil..

Red Dzao Village (nr Sapa)

The last stop on the motorbike tour was the Red Zao (or dzao) village. These women dont like being photographed, are very demanding with their sales and shave the front of their hair lines.. interesting to say the least.

This beautiful creature can be seen riding the buffalo in the distance on the scenic images below - after spending some time showing her the camera she happily obliged getting back up up there.

It started to pour with rain on the trip and we entered someones home. It was filled with nothing more than lovely little boys who took joy in looking at my new video camera.

Walk to Cat Cat

We headed down into the mist and started the long long descent (via stairs into Cat Cat).

It is however an easy walk compared to what these poor girls had to do. They are carrying large cedar panels up the pathway to build a coffin.

This lady apparently loves her hoochy kooch (as my mama calls it).. she was however quite keen for the Oreo's we possessed.
Gorgeous little ones who also abide by the sacred london sunday rule.. but who could do with a bath.

As we started the long trek back up the hill we ran into this gorgeous girl with a full "pack" as such. I was starting to get the feeling that the ladies did ALOT of manual labour around here.
